JLF Sponsors Interfaith Panel Discussion Series

Part of our new Diversity in Religion project, this half hour program will feature one or two current themes. The panel includes Jewish community leader and philanthropist, Marvin Jubas, along with Father James Heft, President of the Institute for Advanced Catholic Studies at the University of Southern California and Rabbi Amy Bernstein, senior Rabbi at Kehillat Israel, as regulars. Notable guests are Christian Egyptian Arab film producer/director, Wahid Boktor, and Jewish Chaplain Jennifer Eaves Nye who serves as Associate Spiritual Leader at Valley Outreach Synagogue. Our program is an opportunity to discuss the role of religion today and invite guests from diverse religious communities to join the panel. JLF/Yad Vashem “Salute to Hollywood” Gala

On Monday evening, June 6, the main ballroom of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel was the venue for a profoundly moving event – the convergence of celebrity and survivor. The American Society for Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority in Jerusalem, and the Jewish Life Foundation, which funds the creation of Jewish-themed cultural and educational programs aired on Jewish Life Television (JLTV), hosted their third annual “Salute to Hollywood” benefit gala.  The star-studded event recognized Janice Min and Lynne Segall from The Hollywood Reporter for their groundbreaking story, “The Last Survivors.” Also honored were film producers Meyer Gottlieb and Branko Lustig and philanthropist David Wiener, all Holocaust survivors.  Presenters were actor Tony Goldwyn, producer and DreamWorks CEO, Jeffrey Katzenberg and JLTV Founder & CEO, Phil Blazer. ...
